Heavy ion acceleration study by using J-PARC

Harada, Hiroyuki

no journal, ,

The J-PARC facility consists of three accelerators, which are 400 MeV linac, 3GeV rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS) and 50 GeV main ring synchrotron. These accelerators provide MW class high intensity proton beams to the targets and the beams are used in many experiments. The RCS has successfully achieved the 1 hour operation of the designed beam power of 1MW. The heavy ion beam of high energy from 10 to 20 GeV per nucleon is required from the researchers in the world in order to understand the high dense matter like the neutron star and many accelerators for heavy ion beam are planned and constructed as a big science project in the world. We simulated the heavy ion beam in our J-PARC accelerators. We propose the accelerator scheme of the beam in J-PARC and the intensity will reach to the world record. I will report the current status of proton beam and introduce the accelerator plan for the high intensity heavy ion beam in J-PARC.
